On September 28th, 2014, a group of friends hosted the very first event out of hunger to connect with each other, learn something new, and broaden our understanding of the Arab world. In the past seven years and 300+ events later, we have grown to a community of 100,000 friends across 30+ cities around the world.

FAQ

  • afikra Salon is a semi-monthly salon-style event where members of the community present on cultural and historical topics they are curious about. The purpose of each evening is to bring together a community of like-minded individuals and have a fruitful conversation about things we don't know much about. Find out about previous talks.

  • Absolutely. If you want to invite anyone, please have them RSVP so we can keep track of who is coming.

  • Of course! Everyone is welcome!!

  • We don't announce the topics beforehand but they vary widely. They are based on a curiosity that the presenter had related to Arab history and culture. The presentations are about showcasing and sharing what they found after spending some time looking into their curiosity.
