Alya Mooro is a freelance journalist and author of the bestselling non-fiction book The Greater Freedom: Life as a Middle Eastern Woman Outside the Stereotypes, released worldwide in 2019 via Little A, Amazon Publishing. She holds a BA in Sociology and Psychology and a Masters in Journalism. She is a columnist at Restless and has by-lines in New York Magazine, The Telegraph, Refinery29, and more. Alya is the co-host of the podcast Bootleg Magic, and, with over 20,000 followers on social media, has guested on numerous national radio stations, spoken on panels across the UK, US, and the Middle East. Born from the response to TGF, she has recently launched The Greater Conversation newsletter, centering female Middle Eastern stories with an aim to de-stigmatize through honest storytelling.
