We at afikra are honored to announce the Shubbak Festival x afikra Rountable Series taking place in the days and weeks leading up to this year's festival which starts on 20th of June, 2021. The series of 4 events will feature candid conversations with key figures from the Shubbak team and will highlight some of the artists and themes on display during this year's festival. All events will take place on Zoom, will be free and open to all, and discussions will be in English.

Amani Hassan, Programme Director at Arab British Centre
Amani joined the Arab British Centre in 2015 and is responsible for developing the organization’s cultural programme. She is passionate about MENA Arts & Culture and earned her MA Degree in Enterprise and Management for the Creative Arts where her research focused on Arab women’s presence in the Middle East art scene. Prior to joining the Arab British Centre, Amani was a project specialist in the Strategic Cultural Relations department at Qatar Museums in Doha, managing the Years of Culture programme (Qatar-UK, Qatar-Brazil, and Qatar-Turkey).

Rabih El Khoury, Curator SAFAR 2021 Film Festival
Rabih holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Lebanese American University in Beirut and a Masters of Arts in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship from Goldsmiths University here in London, where he was studying when he attended the first SAFAR back in 2012! He has been working with the Metropolis Association, which manages Metropolis Art Cinema, the only art-house cinema in Lebanon, since its inception in 2006 as administrator and then as Managing Director. He has also worked for the cultural association Beirut DC for the promotion of Arab Cinema as general coordinator for its Arab film festival The Beirut Cinema Days since 2006. He has organized over 20 Arab film weeks in the Arab World and Europe.
