Reimagining Arab Nostalgia | Rana Salam & The Confused Arab

Under the title “Nostalgia in Art” we talked to designer and Studio owner, Rana Salam, and the cultural cartographer behind “The confused Arab”, Sofiane Si Merabet.

Rana Salam is one of the most established and celebrated graphic designers and artists from the Middle East. Her unique knowledge of Arab culture and its popular art is merged with her signature visual language & art direction. Rana has been running her own London and now Beirut based design studio for over a decade, producing distinctive designs for her clients. She is also the co-author of the book “Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie: Intimacy and Design”

Sofiane Si Merabet is a French-Alegiran creative who decribes himself as a cultural cartographer. He is the creator of the digital platform “TheConfusedArab” where he explores the "future of nostalgia" as he explores the globe. He has shown his work in Dubai, France, London, Saudi Arabia among other places.
