Wissam Shawkat is an Iraqi Artist, Designer, Calligrapher, & Type Designer. In this conversation, we talked to Wissam about his work in those various fields, as well as his new calligraphy style "Al Wissam".
Wissam Shawkat spent his teen summers lettering for a local sign shop before he began studying for a degree in Civil Engineering at Basra University, graduating in 1996. Now, Wissam is one of the top calligraphic writers and designers in the world. His writing is so remarkable that it’s become highly recognized for it’s unique aesthetic qualities.
