A Realistic Plan of Return For Palestinians to Their Homeland | Salman Abu Sitta
Dr Salman Abu Sitta lived through the Nakba. In this episode of This Is Not A Watermelon, we hear about his experience, writing his memoir "Mapping My Return: A Palestinian Memoir," and founding the Palestinian Land Society – an organization dedicated to the documentation of Palestine's land and people. Dr Abu Sitta gives us an overview of the history of the Zionist occupation of Palestine, explaining the role that the British and the Haganah played, ultimately betraying the Palestinians. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the events of 1948 from a first-hand perspective.
Dr Salman Abu Sitta was born in 1937 in Ma‘in Abu Sitta, in the Beersheba district of Mandate Palestine. An engineer by profession, and the founder and president of the Palestine Land Society, he is most known for his ground-breaking research project mapping of Palestine in the 21st, 20th and 19th centuries, and developing a practical plan for implementing the right of return for all Palestinian refugees.
