Studying Arab Art | Salwa Mikdadi

We talked to Salwa Mikdadi about her career from curating several art exhibitions around the world to Directing the Arab Center for the Study of Art, NYU Abu Dhabi.

Salwa Mikdadi is Associate Professor of the Practice of Art History and Director, Arab Center for the Study of Art, NYU Abu Dhabi. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary art of the Arab world, Arab art institutions, gender and politics in art, and museums and their visitors. Past positions include: Head of the Professional Development Program at the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Head of the Arts & Culture Program at the Emirates Foundation, and co-founder and Director of Cultural & Visual Arts Resource/ICWA, one of the first non-for-profit organizations dedicated to promoting Arab art in the US (1988-2006).
