Spotlight: Who is Juba II & what Roman heritage do we have in North Africa?

Presenter: Sophia Alami

Delivered:
Marrakech on February 17, 2024

Sophia sheds light on Romans in North Africa. She talks about big empires with proper armies that have existed and been in contact commerce and sometimes conflict with Rome and not just some tribes that will simply get colonised by Rome. She talks about using an autochtone prince to rule over a land: Juba received a Roman education, learns latin and is taught like any kid from the elite.
