Who Were the First Photographers of Aleppo? | Jad Moussalli

In the final episode of this season of Bas Sou'al, the afikra coumminity podcast, Jad Moussalli takes us back through the history of photography in Aleppo. Via the camera lens, we learn about certain moments in the city's histories, its key figures, and its minority communities. Jad introduces us to Aleppo's photographers during the late Ottoman period (1870-1920) and the French Mandate (1920-1950), and explains how his passion for Aleppo's photographers began.

afikra is all about asking questions and exploring something new. This series takes some of the questions about the histories and cultures of the Arab world asked and explored in one of our community presentations, and broadens it into a podcast episode hosted by Mysa Kafil-Hussain and Yasmin Khawaja with community members from our global chapters.
