In this live session of the Community Jameel x afikra COP28 Conversation Series at Jameel Arts Centre, panelists working at the intersection of the arts, health and climate action, have explored the role of art and arts organizations in responding to the climate crisis through the lens of health.

Nadia Christidi is a researcher, writer, and arts practitioner. She is currently a PhD candidate in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society at MIT. She has a particular interest in the roles that art, design, and architecture are playing in future imagining and future planning process.
Uns Kattan is deputy director, head of research and learning at Art Jameel. She has a particular interest in visual culture and alternative histories and, over the past ten years, has worked across research, programming and content-development.
Dr Marina Romanello is the executive director of the Lancet Countdown, and climate change and health researcher at University College London. She trained as a clinical biochemist in the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and holds a doctorate in biomedical sciences from the University of Cambridge. She is a member of the working group on health co-benefits in climate change mitigation policies of Italy’s Superior Health Council.
Dr Nisha Sajnani is a founding co-director of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, established in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), New York University (NYU), Community Jameel and Culturunners to measurably improve health and wellbeing through the arts. She is also the director of the programme in drama therapy and theatre & health lab; and founding co-director of the Arts & Health @NYU.
Stephen Stapleton is an artist, social entrepreneur and founding director of CULTURUNNERS. He is known for developing platforms for cultural exchange with the Middle East. He is a founding co-director of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab established in collaboration with the WHO, NYU, Community Jameel and Culturunners to measurably improve health and wellbeing through the arts.
Cléa Daridan is the senior curator and cultural lead at Community Jameel. Cléa is also a senior lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Community Jameel COP28 Conversation Series
This series is a tool to amplify local communities and foster a more inclusive and informed discussion around climate action. It aims to build a forum for intergenerational collaboration and engagement, to channel a unique voice, and inspire thoughtful discussions between youth, experts, non-experts and key global decision-makers.
