In this session of the CommunityJameel x afikra COP28 Conversations, Heather Koldewey and Myisha Ahmad from Brac World, embark on an exploration of how nature-based solutions such as mangroves encourage the participation of local actors to build a more resilient ecosystem while mobilizing the power of blue carbon in mitigating climate change
Heather started working for ZSL (Zoological Society of London) in 1995, as a postdoctoral research scientist in the Institute of Zoology, curator of London Zoo Aquarium, Head of Marine and Freshwater Conservation and now as Senior Marine Technical Advisor and Lead of the Bertarelli Foundation's Marine Science Programme. Heather is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter and a National Geographic Explorer.
Myisha Ahmad is a Climate and Environmental Specialist, working for the Climate Change Programme at BRAC, Bangladesh. She is responsible for identifying, aligning and integrating NDCs, National Adaptation Plans, Sustainable Development Goals, while developing and implementing climate adaptive interventions at grassroot levels, focused on integrated water management and food security. Myisha Ahmad is an Erasmus Mundus scholar and holds a Master degree in Hydroinformatics and Water Management and a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.

This series is a tool to amplify local communities and foster a more inclusive and informed discussion around climate action. It aims to build a forum for intergenerational collaboration and engagement, to channel a unique voice, and inspire thoughtful discussions between youth, experts, non-experts and key global decision-makers.
